About Us
The MyAutism Foundation is the brainchild of 13 year old Mya (the MyA in MyAutism!)

In 7th grade, she was asked to write an Ode, and this is what came of it:

Ode to Autism
By Mya Devlin
(Age 12)
Some people call it weird.
Some people call it strange.
Some people call it a disease that ought to be contained.
But no one really calls it what it really is.
Really they're just scared of it.
Cus our brains work differently than theirs.
It's called Autism Spectrum Disorder for a good reason.
It affects all people differently.
Some people get the heebie-jeebies looking at some slime
Some people hate it when people yell out all the time.
Some people are geniuses in math and writing too.
Some people need a little help figuring out what to do.
School can be tough, but it's ok because special ed teachers are here to save the day.
Some people can give up on us or pretend like we're not here.
But there is nothing to be ashamed of or hide cus those people say we’re not real.
Well, it's not true. We just think a little differently than you.

During Autism Awareness month in April, Mya's poem and story was published on the school's social media and her idea of launching a nonprofit foundation to support other kids like her started to become a reality.

With the support of a team at Albright College's TExpL program, Mya spent her summer developing goals and a business plan. She has secured the fictitious name for the foundation and domain name for this website. Next steps include filing the paperwork for the 501c3 and continuing to build her Board of Directors and begin raising funds.
